Roofers in Stockport

Stockport is one of the areas we’re proud to extend our roofing services into, bringing over 20 years of combined experience to homeowners across the borough. While our roots are in Congleton, our team regularly travels across Cheshire and the wider North West, and Stockport — with its mix of Victorian terraces, 1930s semis, and newer developments around Bramhall and Hazel Grove — is an area we know well.

Stockport’s housing stock is genuinely varied. In Edgeley and the town centre, many properties date back over a century, with slate roofs and older brick chimneys needing careful, sympathetic repair. Further out towards Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, and Woodford, larger detached and semi-detached homes from the 1930s onward often mix tiled pitched roofs with flat-roofed extensions or garages added over the years.

Before recommending any work — a new roof, a repair, or a flat roofing upgrade on a rear extension — we carry out a full assessment of the existing structure, checking for underlying issues that aren’t visible from ground level.

One issue we see regularly on older Stockport properties is guttering and roofline damage caused by decades of wear. Original cast iron guttering, still common on many pre-war Stockport homes, is prone to rusting, cracking, and pulling away from ageing timber fascias. We offer both guttering repair and replacement and fascias & soffits services to address this, often recommending low-maintenance uPVC alternatives that preserve the property’s character while significantly reducing future maintenance.

On the newer builds around Hazel Grove, Marple, and the outskirts of Stockport, we more commonly handle flat roof installations and repairs on extensions and garages. Flat roofing installed using older felt systems is a common source of call-outs in this area — we typically recommend upgrading to modern fibreglass (GRP) or rubber (EPDM) systems, which offer a genuinely waterproof, low-maintenance alternative with a far longer lifespan than felt.
